We are not a community interest company that relies on donations and grants to operate even the basic service and keep the lights on – instead, we work. You can make a donation if you wish to and that will all go to community projects. We keep this all going by working hard and generating an income for the community interest company.

The CJS Hub brings in income by carrying out legal and consultancy work, mostly behind the scenes, often on behalf of busy solicitors firms.

Some of our team are accredited police station representatives and take instructions directly from firms to attend interviews under caution when their clients are arrested or asked in for questioning. Others act as consultants, helping overstretched legal teams with case prep, litigation support, or ongoing advice. We take on work for criminal defence, pre charge representations and prison law just to name a few.

If you’re using a solicitor that we already have an agreement with – or you ask a solicitor to involve us – then some of our work might be funded through that route, either via legal aid or via the funds that you have instructed them with. But the engagement would always be between you and the solicitor – not directly with us.

On top of that, we also bring in a small income by publishing and selling books on Amazon (like Accused, Who? Me? and Beyond NFA), and we sometimes use affiliate links on our site for books or goods that might be helpful to the people we support. If you click one and go on to buy something, we might earn a few pence – but it won’t cost you a penny more.

And because we’re a Community Interest Company, we can also apply for grants or funding to support specific projects – things like improving access to legal knowledge, running events, or creating new resources. Whenever we do that, we publish a report afterwards so people can see what we did, where the money came from, and how it was spent. This is not relied on though to keep us going. As a responsible Community Interest Company we wish to operate as a business and then put the profits form that hard work back to the community that we wish to support. We will apply for grants for projects but it will not be our core income.

Any profit we make – after covering costs like staff wages and overheads – is reinvested straight back into the work we do to support the community. That includes answering emails free of charge, developing new content, and supporting projects that make a real difference to people who feel lost or abandoned in the system.
